The BNE Charitable Trust Provide Donation to NEMO and Grant Funding to the Ministry of Health, KHMH Hospital and Restore Belize

On August 10th, 2016, the BELIZE Natural Energy Charitable Trust donated $50,000.00 to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) for the ongoing Hurricane Earl Relief efforts. The donation was used to provide food baskets, construction materials and to purchase household items for those families who had been affected by the Hurricane.

In addition, over the past year, the Trust partnered with the Ministry of Health to fund the Independence Polyclinic; Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital to renovate the Asthma Bay Center, and Restore Belize to fund the last year of a 4-year commitment “I Am Belize” Scholarship Program. Grant funding for these three projects totaled over $347,000.00.

RESTORE Belize, Belize City

Project Type: Four Year Scholarship Program – “I Am Belize Scholarship Program”
Impact: 67 Students (and their families), 13 High Schools
Trust Investment (2015 – 2016): $ 39,753.00
Total 4-Year Investment: $282,686.00

Restore BelizeThis scholarship provides for tuition, books, uniforms, tutoring, scholarship club membership, internship opportunities (year 4 only) and mentorship support. In August 2016, the Trust committed an additional $125,000 for an auxiliary 4-year program. At a ceremony held on Wednesday, August 17th, 2016, Restore Belize issued thirty-two (32) scholarships to new and returning students for the 2016/17 school year.

Since the Trust was established in 2008, a total of $8,624,502 has been invested in general education and social environment projects and programs in Belize. The Trust takes this opportunity to applaud all our partners over the past eight years for their dedication and commitment to continuously improve the social and educational environment in their communities.

The Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust (BNECT) is a partnership between the Government of Belize and Belize Natural Energy Limited, established by Deed of Trust dated February 25th, 2008. The Trust was established to make a difference in the lives of Belizeans and thus seeks to empower people and communities to thrive in a harmonious, socially and environmentally responsible manner so that they can be the conscious architects of their own future. The Trust’s mission is to serve as a catalyst for people and communities to believe in themselves so they can achieve their full potential.
