On Monday, September 25th, 2023, the Belmopan Lions Club located in the capital city of Belmopan inaugurated a newly constructed computer laboratory/student learning center known as The Belmopan After School Experience (BASE). The center will be used to operate this after-school program for primary and high school students and will grant them access to laptops, wi-fi, printing and scanning services, tutoring, and mentoring. The program can accommodate up to 35 students.
The Belmopan Lions Club received funding in the amount of $38,600.00 from the BELIZE Natural Energy Charitable Trust for the construction of the computer laboratory.
