San Pablo Community Government School is one of two schools located in San Pablo Village, Orange Walk District. The school’s population consists of 90 students and seven staff members including the Principal.
On March 31st, 2023, the school’s newly constructed 14’ by 26’ dining hall annex funded by the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust was inaugurated. This initiative emanated from the school management’s decision to embark in a partnership with the Ministry of Education in its Schools Feeding Program. The unique design of the program allows the school to use freshly harvested produce from the school’s agricultural vegetable garden with the goal of providing fifty students with meals that will be conducive to better learning. The feeding program offers students opportunities for education beyond the classroom as it builds on social and agricultural learning goals and on health and wellness endeavours. Proper nutrition is a key factor in the education process of a child and with a program like this the education and holistic performance of the school will highly be impacted.
Total cost of the project was BZ$8,460.00 with the school contributing $BZ$1,500 representing labour. Investment Support from the Trust was $ 6,960.00 for the purchase of materials.
