School Security Enhancement (Fencing of School Compound)
Buena Vista Primary School

Buena Vista Primary School is a small multi-grade school located in the village of Buena Vista, Cayo District with a student population of 165, one Administrative Principal and eight teachers.

In December 2022, the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust (BNECT) was approached for grant funding for the construction of a fence around the school’s compound to safeguard the safety of the students and staff. The project was approved with grant funding of BZ$6,800.00 for the purchase of materials to assist the school in the realization of this initiative. The school contributed counterpart funding of BZ$1,500 towards the material and labour was provided by several of the skilled parents. Counterpart funding provided by the school significantly reduced the cost of the construction, which totalled BZ$8,800.00.

One of the Belize Government’s primary focuses is investment in education. Therefore, projects such as this initiative is a safe investment for the development of communities and to a larger extent our country. We are protecting our children and the resources needed to assist them to survive in the real world.
